Journalists and TV Producer Postings

The Chowhound Team | Nov 30, 201011:43 AM

We've had a number of reports lately about posts from journalists/reporters/production companies asking food related questions, intended for use in their articles/productions.  We'd like to highlight our policies for Journalists and Bloggers, as explained at

"Journalists are welcome to post on Chowhound, including the gathering of story information, provided the discussion is on-topic and of potential use to the community as a whole. ... If you're gathering information for a story, we recommend you say so upfront; most hounds will be happy to help if you're open about it."

We understand that many of you don't like to be used for research purposes, and don't want to help with these types of questions -- and that's totally fine. But we'd ask that you simply pass these posts, rather than dragging them off-topic with discussion of whether the question should have been asked at all.  Even if a post is posted on more than one board, it's still within our guidelines, as long as the question is focused on local chow, and will help those with similar questions in the area.
