Josie -- NEVER again!!!

jcwla | Nov 8, 200501:57 AM

Friend wanted to go there for a belated birthday celebration. I made a 7:30 reservation and told them it was for a birthday.

When we arrived at 7:25 they told us it would be two minutes as the people at our table were supposedly paying at the time. THIS WAS A LIE.

They asked us to have a seat at the bar. Which was a bit of a problem considering that there were five stools, four of which were occupied, leaving one in the corner. We had no interested in having one of us sit on a corner barstool and the other standing next to them, so we went back up front.

The "manager" -- an overweight, heavily accented bouncer type -- asked us not to wait in the entryway. Is this a scam to sell drinks? The other choice was outside in the cold. My friend -- whose knee, I told the man, was broken, and who was ravenously hungry -- finally took the only available seat in the place -- in front of the men's room, which is located ridiculously right in the middle of the restaurant.

Actually, there were tons of available seats -- at the tables. Apparently word has gotten out about this place. It's not what it used to be -- if it ever was -- and there is more attitude here than at Sushi Nozawa.

After fifteen minutes -- during the last ten of which the table they were supposedly setting up for us sat empty -- they seated us at a table that was worse than several we could have been sitting in the whole time.

They are still serving that same stupid cheese and mushroom quiche amuse from the first day they opened. How about something new for a change? It's not that good. And the menu is way too game-centric, with maybe a couple of choices for those not so inclined.

My friend had a bowl of soup -- which she needed to avoid throwing up from hunger -- but I had no interest in giving them my money. We called the Grill, got in, asked for a check, and left.

The rudest, most lie-to-your-face dishonest establishment in town. Other restaurants are worse in terms of food but the people behind Josie are the LOWEST!
