As an enthusiastic participant in the Chowhound Jerk-Off in 2001 (and a longtime partisan of the winning entrant, Danny & Pepper), I'm happy to report that there's a new heavy hitter in town. The jerk chicken at Sugarcane -- available as a chicken wing appetizer or a half-chicken entree -- is good. Like, *really* good. It brings on the heat, but it also has layers of subtle, complex flavors -- spectacular! The chicken isn't as smoky as at some other jerkeries, and it's definitely pricier (the half-bird plus two sides runs $15), but it's worth it. Highly, highly recommended.
