Incredible! 7 days in a row of perfect weather in your fair city. Clean air, friendly folks, great eats, and now back to the RNC ;) . Thanks to all hounds for the recommendations!
Little Sichuan - thought I was a tough guy eating jalapeno pizza, but their "dry" chicken turned my face literally red as a lobster.
Draegers - Manhattanites would drop dead if they got a store like this, space and selection-wise.
Martini House - rabbit three ways, a sweetbread special, intensely flavored shiitakes with scallops. A room that reminded me of Vancouver, for some reason.
And a greeter as gorgeous as any in Soho or Midtown :) (nicer, too).
Pere Jeanty - also did not notice an excess of olive oil. Same great sardine starter MWong noted, and fine fish soup, bouillabaise-esque monkfish, short ribs. Sitting happily on their front porch, would've been a sucker for any Yountville real estate agent that wandered by!
Bouchon - just a quickie lunch, but even their croque madame and mussels were top-notch. Fries coulda been a little firmer, tho.
Darda Seafood - was a little nervous since was taken to 369 last year, where we had the stinkiest stinky tofu I've ever had. Also had a bubbling blood-based stew that almost had me passing out on the table (and which also attracted every fly in the joint). Nothing quite so exotic at Darda. Loved the scallion pancake variation (sesame seeds, scallions inside like a stuffed pizza). Warm jellyfish (with chicken) didn't hit the right textural note, tho.
Barbara's Fish Trap - last year, 90 minute wait on a Sunday. This year, middle of the afternoon on a weekday, no problem, right? 50 minutes! While everyone was enjoying their Dungeness crab sandwiches and fried shrimp, I had to be a schmo and order their fish tacos, which I can't get in NYC. Well, I guess I can't get them in HMB, either :( .
Only down note:
Papa Murphy's pizza in Fremont - garlic chicken pie had barely any chicken! At least we had a twofer coupon...
