Fairly new restaurant in Gaithursburg featuring soup dumplings (xiao long bao), fried baos (sheng jian bao) and Sichuan cooking.
For some reason, they're already running Groupons (and that's what drew me to visit). My impression is that they probably need to, especially if Bob's runs Groupons.
XLB - well made, no breakage. Thin skin (thinner than Shanghai Taste, almost as thin as Bob's). Juicy (but not as juicy as Bob's).
SJB - I ordered the spicy beef & pork bao. Not juicy at all (the ones in Shanghai are very juicy, almost as juicy as xlb) and fairly thick skin. The filling is rather bland, not spicy at all.
Dan Dan Noodles - I haven't had any DDN in MD for a long time but I get them regularly at Hong Kong Palace. These are slightly peanut buttery in an otherwise fairly muted dish. I didn't even bother to take the leftover home.
Spicy Beef and Tripe - again, muted compared to HKP. I ate some before snapping a picture so the plating is better than it appears.
Spicy stir-fried cabbage - very good, and spicy too.
Basically, I wouldn't drive past Bob's to get to JDS (coming from VA).
