I am a devoted fan of Jane and Michael Stern's "Roadfood" books and web page. I figured there are other chowhounds out there who are too. I am on their email list, and this month's newsletter had a notice that they will be in DC:
"On September 24th, 2002 at 6PM, The Smithsonian Associates of the Smithsonian Institution are going to be hosting us for a talk that they've titled "Jane and Michael Stern's Best Eats from Coast to Coast." It is located at S. Dillon Ripley Center, Room 3077. If you live in the DC area, please come on down! And please, please, if you have any suggestions of Roadfood-worthy places in DC, let us know about them. Our tip-file in the nation's capital is way too meager."
Anybody know about Smithsonian Associates programs? Don't they cost money and don't you need a ticket and be registered ahead of time? Attending might be fun.
If you want to send them any ideas for their tip file, you can contact them through their website (link below). They do read and answer the emails.
