Jamaican "Spice Bun" bread

Out of curiosity I recently bought a loaf of Jamaican "Spice Bun" bread. Now that I have it, what do I do with it?

It has a nice flavor, but it is exceptionally dense and heavy, with a very fine crumb. It doesn't seem to make good toast. It is too heavy for sandwiches. I tried making french toast with it (as recommended somewhere on these boards recently) and thought the results poor.

Is it used to sop up gravy? Or is it simply eaten out of hand with a lot of butter?

I am clueless when it comes to Jamaican food, so I'd appreciate any suggestions.
