My partner and I are visiting Brazil at the end of September, spending three days in Rio de Janeiro (staying at Hotel Fasano for two nights, then Hotel Santa Teresa after we return from Paraty) and three days in Paraty (staying at Casa Turquesa). I'm trying to work out our itinerary and wanted to see if anyone has any input for us. Our hotels and transfers, etc., have all been arranged so it's basically about what to eat (and do, but that's for a different board!) when we're there.
We're a couple in our late 20s/early 30s, visiting from Manhattan. We love good cocktails (would love to know where I could find the best caipirinha, and perhaps cocktail-related souvenirs?). Most of our trip is intended to just be relaxing—hence our hotel choices—so while we may see a few touristy things, we love authentic neighborhoods with interesting people and food. For reference, we live in the East Village in Manhattan, so spending time in Rio's "equivalent" would be fun!
Here's where I'm at so far:
Day 1 (Rio):
Dinner: Fasano al Mare
Drink: Londra Bar, Miroir
Lunch: Sushi Leblon
Dinner: Fogo de Chao
AM: Transfer to Paraty
Dinner: Banana da Terra
Drinks: Coupe Bar
AM/Lunch: Day trip on private schooner. Any particular hole-in-the-wall restaurants (Eh Laho) we should visit?
Lunch: Le Gite d'Andaitiba
AM: Transfer to Rio
Drinks: Bar do Gomez (aka Armazem Sao Thiago), Bar does Descasados
Lunch: Iraja Gastro
PM: 6pm, depart for airport
As you can see, there are a few holes. Any suggestions or input appreciated!
