Ithaki Octopus - and Moussaka

I finally made it up to Ipswich last night for dinner at Ithaki, a fine Greek restaurant. It's far from a hole-in-the-wall, with pretty murals on the walls, and fairly high prices (entree start at 15 or 16 dollars) . . . BUT much of the food is stellar. The highlights:

Grilled octopus served with "santorini style fava and aioli". Beautifully charred octopus. The perfect tenderness. Fun to eat. And delicious. Ranks with Franklin Cafe, Atasca, and O'Cantinho as some of the best octopus/squid I've had in the area.

Moussaka. A classic rendition of the Greek comfort food dish. Nice bechamel. And the spice I can never place because I don't know all the ingredients. Nutmeg? NOTE: I discovered this morning that cold moussaka may be my new favorite breakfast food. It was even better than the hot version!

Roast Lamb was good, but not as good as my father's, which is my yardstick. Typically, if it's not as good as dad's, I regret having ordered it. An admirable rendition of roast lamb. Just not thrilling.

That's it!
