Uses for insipid dried apples?

LisaPA | Apr 25, 2012 07:06 AM

I buy dried apricots that are really soft, moist and delicious, so I thought the apples from the same store would be the same quality. Wrong. Bland, flavorless rings that taste like what I imagine eating styrofoam would be like.

I hate to waste food, so is there something else I could use them in? When I did a search on the boards, the dried apple threads were about making them, rather than using them. I don't like fried apple pies, but the only other thing I can think of is to chop them and add to a pilaf. Maybe rehydration will improve their taste, but it seems like they were flavorless to begin with, since drying should concentrate their flavor.
