made reservations for 2 for an early Sat. pm dinner --
for an Indian restaurant, the ambience is first-rate! golden walls, soft lighting, very sophisticated.
if you like large portions -- you won't be disappointed. They are Texas-sized! Most dishes are on the spicy side, though they will cook all dishes with the sauce on the side, if requested.
We had read that service was bad -- it wasn't bad but they really need to hire one or two more waitstaff -- the wait was just a bit too long between courses and you didn't feel pampered. Also, the waiter can be a bit too pushy in encouraging you to order in excess.
this evening there was no music; there should have been. It would helped dramatically soften the room and add warmth to the atmosphere.
our entrees, the chicken with mango chutney and eggplant with cashews were good but not spectacular.
the dessert was definitely the highlight of the meal -- bread pudding was awesome!
visiting Indika satisfied my curiosity b/c it was nouveau Indian --however, the service (the entire staff needs to relax a bit and at least look like they're enjoying themselves) and cool atmosphere is what will keep me from returning.
