Neil deMause's post below on the "Favorite Brooklyn Restaurants" thread reminded me of a question I'v been wanting to ask for ever. What is the story with India House on 7th Ave and 7th Street? I walk past it every day, for two years I have never seen more than a maximum of three customers. That's on a really good night. Normally it's the waiters (two to three) and maybe one "diner". I'm pretty audacious and I would have tried it anyway one day, but Aunt Cake says please don't I still need you. So I didn't.
So how do they survive? Brisk take-out business? Not so likely, the chance of repeat customers is pretty slim. Neil muses drug font. Mhm. Aunt Cake's theory is they own the building, so the lease is cheap. I don't know, you still gotta pay those waiters. Enough.
