India chicken

We have a local, huge, international market. Something I hadn't noticed there before were whole cleaned "India chickens." I think they also said "galina" on the labels. The size was from guinea hen size to capon. The smaller birds looked slightly dark through the skin, again bringing Guinea fowl to mind, though they have those elsewhere.
I think I've heard the term "India" applied to chicken from Central America, maybe that's it? Galina could be a typo. The color in the smaller birds made me think it's a specific variety different from your everyday bird. Then again, if I knew, I wouldn't be asking!
