Improvements and Questions Across a Wide Array, SD

Not to rile up the homers but I have been to some of the "best" in SD and basically would take recommendations if you think there is something SIGNIFICANTLY better(since the scene is not exactly awe inspiring). If it is basically a toss up, no need. I know asking only for objective thoughts is pointless since everyone believes themselves to be spot on but I just did that anyway. If you are the type to label someplac "the best _____ ever!", please refrain from feedback since nothing in SD is that.(Hate on, flame on but that is how it is, unfortunately).

1. Sushi Ota-Anything at least 2 notches better?
2. Cowboy Star- Better than Donovan's? It is insanely priced and certainly not the best steakhouse in the country and thus, I am very skeptical. Might anyone compare Donovan's currently to a few years ago? Decline/Same?
3. Dessertier-Any feedback? At least decent and by that, I mean 3 levels better than Krasne. Yes, I have eaten her goods. It is sad that is about the only game in town. If there are others that I am missing, do tell.
4. Mexican-I realize I can just search for the few that are consensus best but to narrow it down, let us say that I like guac that is avocado, salt and lime juice. The fewer the frills the better, no sour cream, etc. Not to say I do not care for dishes with more ingredients, mole, etc. but do not muck it up when it should not be. Also, which Mexican spots DEFINITELY use better ingredients, if that is known.

Thank you
