I picked up this pottery at a tag sale for its colorful appearance and difficulty of production (at least it looks hard to make to my untrained eye). The bottom has the words “Bass” and “the craftsman” inscribed in the clay. I secretly hope it has a culinary purpose to its unusual design.
Does this shape look familiar?
Reminds me of a cake pan, but the glazed earthenware material and presence of a lid make me doubt this as the intended purpose. A dish for 7-layered bean dip? Salsa holder?
Thanks in advance for your help.
