Huevos Rotos @ Hogar Dulce Hogar (SoHo)

ipsedixit | Feb 4, 201509:25 AM

Wandered into this Basque Bakery after walking around in this damp miserable weather unable to find my favorite Chinese food cart.

As luck would have it, however, Hogar Dulce Hogar was a nice alternative.

Ordered up the Huevos Rotos, or "broken eggs" in Spanish. It comes made with an over-easy egg ladled over some home fries, plated in a skillet, and topped with jamón ibérico. Break the yolk and let it seep into the potatoes and ham, and you have this sort of über version of biscuits and gravy. Good stuff, especially as the potatoes were fried in Spanish olive oil and tossed with some sea salt.
