Hot & Spice restaurant

This is a Thai place on the Danforth at Monarch Park that was listed in the last issue of Toronto Life. Anyone been here?

My experience was this: Last August went in for some take-out pad thai. They seemed to have a good version of a ubiquitous but inconsistently executed dish. The right proportion of chicken/shrimp/tofu on soft but yielding rice noodle. The seasoning was from tamarind - not ketchup - and just enough of the other ingredients like dried fried garlic and shallot.

So did I hit the pad thai jackpot? Maybe. The problem I had with the order was that it was 75% of what an order of noodle should have been. (It's not like PT is ever an appy selection...) Also, the restaurant was empty that night and I'm wondering why.

Does anyone have a reason for my giving them another chance?
