Hot Doug's Rattlesnake Sausage

G Wiv | Sep 5, 2002 09:27 PM

My niece just called with one of my favorite questions, “guess what I had for lunch today?” I took three guesses, not even close. The correct answer was…..rattlesnake sausage from Hot Doug’s. Hot Doug has a game sausage special each week, and there have been some interesting choices, but rattlesnake has to be near the top of the list.

She said that the flavor was quite mild, though Doug, when asked as to the flavor, told her, “not like chicken.” {Smile} I asked her if the sausage was composed of only rattlesnake or if there was pork, she was not sure, though my guess for only $6 per sausage there was a goodly percentage of pork in the rattler sausage, but I could easily be way off base.

I am going to be out of town Friday and Saturday, so no rattlesnake sausage for me, but I thought I would give the Chowhound board a heads up in case anyone was interested. I am almost willing to bet that Seth is already rearranging his lunch plans, first bear, then rattler, makes me nervous thinking about what could be next. {Smile}

By the way, Hot Doug’s has fries cooked in duck fat after 1pm on Fri and Sat. Rattler sausage, duck fat fries, maybe I should be the one switching my schedule around.

There have been numerous posts in reference to Hot Doug’s duck fat fries, I will link to one of mine in the Chowhound URL window.
