hot cross buns, humanely killed meat

Since Lent is almost over, I need to hustle to get my annual hot cross bun, and this year I'd like to have a really good one. Miss Grimble used to have a good one. (Is it still in business? Phone book has Miss Grimble Assocs. in the Bronx.) Or where is there a hot cross bun (sorry, Manhattan please) as good as that or better?

The meat is trickier and more important. I'm eating it again after ten years as a vegetarian, but can't always do it comfortably. My fantasy is to find a source of pork, lamb, chicken, maybe beef, (preferably fresh, not frozen) that I know is from humanely raised AND slaughtered animals. Meaning free-range living, no shipping to market/slaughter, and a quick death with little or no anticipation of it. Any ideas? I have searched the net, but haven't found what I want. Am I going to have to become a farmer again?
