Homemade Avocado Ice Cream Success!

I have been intrigued with the idea of avocado ice cream ever since a post about it a few months ago. Also, a good friend in attempt to gain weight has taken to indulging in avocado smoothies/shakes on a regular basis. I would love to surprise her with a pint avocado ice cream. I perused the web and found a recipe that combines the virtues of Philadelphia style ice cream with traditional custard based ice cream. I think I have found a winner. It tasted a lot like avocadoes and was ‘extremely refreshing’ according to DH, a true ice cream addict. The only change I made was to add a generous squirt of lime juice prior to churning and the change I would make in the future would be that I would omit the flour as I detected a raw flour taste in the end product. It set up really well and there is really no need for flour as a thickener. Lastly, the most difficult aspect of making the ice cream was keeping myself from devouring the heavy cream, avocado and tequila mixture before adding it to the custard. If it helps any other hounds trying this recipe I used an electric hand mixer for the parts of the recipe that read whisk and my ice cream maker is a hand crank Salton. It’s a like a Donvier style ice cream maker prior to electrical cranking. I used two small avocadoes and I would imagine three small ones would make this recipe divine.
