The Helmand Lunch Buffet

Caryl Aaron | Feb 4, 2004 11:32 PM

Having read Jupitor and Jen Meisser's earlier enthusiastic posts about Helmand's new lunch buffet, I had to get there FAST. Yes, buffets tend to be mediocre at best and the offerings may be on the luke-to-warm side, but it's a great way to sample many dishes.

I was shown to a table with white cloth and napkin (which due to time constraints is so luxurious at lunch time, don't you think? The Host was eager to expand upon the offerings, and I dove right in.

Since all menu items were mentioned in earlier posts (too bad I couldn't figure out how to include those earlier posts below),I will defer to their expertise. All I know is that I enjoyed the eggplant, rice w/raisons, chicken, lamb, vegetables, salads, and desert, TWICE. All was lovely; waitperson was unobtrusive/efficient; Host (who may be one of the owners?)was attentive and delighted everytime he passed by and heard me purring.

To the point, Helmand buffet is well-worth the $9.95 and a delightfully open, inviting place, too. Only two other tables were occupied. I hope this post encourages you to remember Helmand at lunch time. It would certainly be a shame to lose this unique restaurant due to lack of business and support.

I think I may have to go back again tomorrow...
