Hell's Kitchen Vietnamese

I lament that my neighborhood seems to be rapidly turning into the Upper East Side. There are now quite a few generic Italian places along 9th, and the quaint candle and knick-knack boutiques are cropping up every week. Metropolitan Drugs, where they sold cheap guitars alongside their usual pharmacy stuff and posted a sign announcing that the pharmacist was friendly and willing to dispense free advice, just put up a banner last night that says, "This Store is Now a Duane Reade."

So it was with great happiness that I read the hand-lettered sign on the recently closed Snowpea's Chinese Kitchen and found out that - lo and behold! It's not going to be a Starbucks! The sign says, "Coming Soon. Vietnamese Home Cooking."

Of course, I have no idea if it will be any good, and I really shouldn't complain, considering all the fantastic food within ten blocks of my apartment, but it's nice to have something to look forward to.
