Heaven on Seven - Naperville

LikestoEatout | Dec 29, 200304:42 PM

I finally had a chance to go there today for lunch. My lunch partner lives in N-ville and said that every time she has gone by, there is a line out the door. We met at 11:30 in hopes to beat the lunch crunch. I arrived at 11:20 and was seated immediately which is surprising for such a popular busy place, most would have made me wait for my companion before seating. I had to wait about 12 minutes, the waiter seemed concerned that I was waiting alone and frequently came over to talk to me and explain the menu. Upon me beging seated, I was immediately brought water and a dish of bread and butter pickles with mustard seed on top...very yummy and I did save some for my friend. The table contained 30 bottles of various hot sauces as a center piece. When my friend arrived we were brought a dish of red beans and rice, a complimentry dish for Mondays. I ordered soft shell crab po'boy and my friend had the etouffe of the day. She had a salad that was included, and I had a cup of gumbo (included)The gumbo was very good, smoky and rich with some great andoille (sp)and my friend took the salad with jalepeno dressing on the side. Our entree's were generous, we both sampled each others. I ate the po'boy without the bread, just picking up the crab and dipping in a tasty mayo/jalepeno sauce, the bread was toasted and I pulled parts off to dip in the sauce. Her etoufee was very good, a blond rouge with generous chicken over rice. The service was great, while waiting I was told that it was no problem, I could stay until 10pm if I wanted, no hurrys. The room was packed by noon but everyone was so very nice and friendly! Oh, my friend had the peach martini and said it was excellant....ice tea for me. A great time, the room has a row of tables on each side and a row up the middle, there is a community table at the rear. A touch on the loud side but worth it! I have eaten at the HO7 by Wrigley field, the N-ville location is much nicer. I am having a problem comparing it to Ron's Cajun Connection in Utica, Il., best is that HO7 is a half hour away.

Address is on Main Street about 5 doors down from Jefferson St. They open at 11 and serve brunch on Sunday.
