Heartland Brewery Chophouse

In an attempt to save a little money during a bachelor party, we decided to skip the big NY steakhouse and we headed over to HBC. I had been there before for drinks and liked it, so figured we'd give it a try. Got a seat right away and our waiter was very attentive, even though there were five of us and he kept bringing out four drinks. He made up for it with speedy recovery. We ordered two appetizer for the table to split. Calamari and Nachos. The Calamari was tasteless and the batter almost fell off the calamari as you picked it up. A touch of salt or some seasoning in the batter would have done wonders. The nachos were small, but pretty good.

I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was dry and had no flavor, the dipping sauce was not a traditional tartar sauce, but more of an aioli. Good, but didn't make up for the fish. The fries were string fries, not and they never offered malt vinegar. I didn't even think about this til this morning. My brother and a friend got their Chophouse steak (I think that's what they called it) I believe thei got their orders switched because one order medium and got well, and one ordered well and got medium. They too didn't notice this til after the meal. the steak was not seasoned and was terribly bland. One of the other diners had a smaller steak and wasn't crazy about it and another had the burger, which he said was good but overcooked. All in all it was an overall poor experience. At $50/person after tip, I will not be back.
