An L & L Hawaiian Barbecue place opened close to where I live. I've tried it twice and have been quite happy with my dinner both times. The first time I went, I ordered the mixed barbeque plate which had chicken, short ribs and beef. It was a little sweet but really tasty. DH had the Samiin noodle soup. I wasn't able to get a taste because he vacumned them up quickly after declaring them to be very good. He loves udon, so he was quite happy with his choice. Our second trip to L & L was just as satisfying as the first. I choose the Lau Lau (pork steamed in banana leaves) and chicken. I liked the Lau Lau a lot, the banana leaves were subtle yet still distinct and the pork was succulent. DH and the pups (real furry ones) had the beef short ribs. All of them were happy with the choice. The surprise of the evening was the macaroni salad. Neither of us are macaroni salad fans as we don't like mayo very much but for some reason we both loved the salad. I don't know if all locations offer brown rice but the location near my house does which is a nice touch. The portions are plentiful enough so that I had enough leftover for lunch aftet each time I visited. I've never had Hawaiian Barbecue so I have nothing to compare it with, however it was nice to get a tasty meal that wasn't run of the mill.
