After living a city away from the La Palma Chicken Pie Shop (in Anaheim) nearly all of my life, I *finally* tried it a few years ago, after it was well-rated in a review (LA Times I think). The food was truly inedible--it reminded me of an experience backpacking through Europe after graduating college--my friends found a "great deal" on a multi-course meal (.65 cents in 1985!). Well, people were waiting in line...but it happened to be a kind of Soup Kitchen! (Hilarious as I look back now--very interesting dining companions!)
Because my Chowhound friends speak highly of it, I thought I would give it one last try...for the Gipper! (tee hee). Anyway, all this to say that as cute of a place as the pie shop is, and despite the friendly waitresses (My 7 year old said, "Mom, she has called you Dear, Sweetie, and Honey".) The food is horrible. It doesn't even warrant specifics. (I would not critique a bad T.V. dinner by offering specifics.) PLEASE do not recommend this restaurant to others lest you tarnish the Chowhound name!
P.S. The blackberry pie was actually very tasty!
