Happy Thanksgiving thanks to Bread Workshop

The Monday b4 the holiday, I got email from my holiday host cousin asking me to bring a pie. I called Bread Workshop because I have been enjoying their flaky crusted, sweet fruit filled pies for a while. They said that my timing was good as they had just decided to do holiday pies. I made my order of a pumpkin pie to be picked up Wednesday morning.

When I went in Wednesday, I knew that their quizzical looks meant trouble. My order was in the back, but no pie had been baked. After the staff talked to the baker at home, we arranged for me to come back on Thanksgiving morning. They comped me the 2 baguettes I was planning to buy to go with Le Bedaine pate. They also comped me a slice of peach, apple, cranberry pie that I offered to buy. I was pleased, although my cousin asked "How does your getting slices of free pie help me? :).

Thursday morning as arranged, the baker rolled up the metal doors and delivered to me a freshly baked brown butter crust pumpkin pie. She also made me a gratis cappuchino since she was making an espresso for herself.

Thanks to Bread Workshop for turning a negative into a big positive.
