What Happened to Vim?? (disappointed NY Chowhound)

Simon | Aug 22, 200503:41 AM     5

So i'm visiting LA from NYC and i drove to Vim (the one on Vermont and 8th) which i fondly remembered from when i lived in LA (i used to have their chicken w/ basil, chili, and garlic, their pan fried oysters, red curries, etc)...it's been taken over by some chain??...We were confused: although the sign said VIM, they gave us menus w/ a diff restaurant name...when we asked about this, they changed the menus for ones that said Vim (?), but which lacked a lot of the dishes i remember...the food was mediocre...

1) What's the deal?

2) Where is the best spot for authentic, non-sweet Thai food these days?...

Thanks in advance...
