I know there are probably better places to get sushi in Sac - but my husband and I liked to go here as it is close to the house. Well, several months ago they changed the menu - then our favorite sushi chef left -- this was the clincher - he had always (for two years) been smiling, accommodating (special requests - no problem). Anyway, I've recently become pregnant and with my husband preferring to sit at the bar, I have begun to order tempura from the kitchen. For two occasions now the last being a week or so ago (I had to think on what exactly to say) I had to wait almost a half hour for my order (45 minutes this last time), while my husband's sushi arrived - no one re-filled our drinks - no one apologized - nothing. And finally the last straw, was my husband's repeated attempts to place an additional request on his order for sushi - he'd gotten his one roll and wanted a second, the two chefs both gave their attention to the other patrons. The quality of the rolls has diminished - and although not something a purist likes - the amount (less) and style of sauces has changed to my husband's dislike. And my husband was so dissatisfied that he left them a note along with no tip - something that we rarely if ever do - in order to more strongly convey our displeasure. Don't know if there are any other similar stories out there - but we won't be going back any time soon.
