Had a great sushi dinner at Hamachi Saturday night. 20th between Park and B'way. The crowds gather across the street at Mizu, but over at Hamachi the fish is fresh and the price is right.
It looks like they're trying to class up the joint, perhaps to compete with the hipster cache at Mizu and nearby Sushi Samba. Unfortunately, that means the prices have gone up a bit. But we had an outstanding shrimp-tempura-and-spicy-tuna roll (the "Deep Impact"). White tuna sushi was just right.
Anyway, if you're looking for a low-key neighborhood sushi place, this is it. Anyone else have similar recommendations for the Union Square/Flatiron/Irving area? Anyone else have thoughts on Hamachi?
