Guy's Night at Augie's (Larchmont)

Went out last Wednesday for a Guy's Night before Christmas. We didn't want spend a lot three days before Christmas so someone mentioned that they had a special on Wednesday night. It's all you can drink beer, wine and soda as long as you order one entree per two diners. Everything is served family style, so this wasn't a problem for six men with appetites. The place was absolutely mobbed and very loud, but we weren't on dates, so we didn't mind.

We ordered three appetizers for the table. A cold antipsta, fried calamari and a seafood oreganato dish The cold antipasta was terrible and had no real meats or cheeses, just pickled veggies. The calamari was excellent, with huge pieces. Actually surprisingly good, since I find it to almost always be rubbery in most places. The seafood orgenato was good, not great. Our server was excellent and didn't rush out our food. He let us relax after the appetizers and then about 20 minutes later brought out the entrees. We had a Chicken Scarp, which was decent, but I prefer the meat on the bone in this dish. Two of my fellow diners actually made comments about how they preferred it this way. We then had Veal Valdastano which was very good. The best dish was a pasta dish called the Kitchen Sink. Shrimp, chicken, sausage, proscuitto in a cream sauce. I've somewhat had an aversion to pasta dishes lately, but this was by far the best dish of the night. A side of sauteed veggies was decent, but could have been seasoned more. Three of us had dessert and two had coffee (with Sambuca). A total of six carafe's of wine and two pitchers of soda and the total came out to $225 after tip (the actual bill was $165).

Average to above average food overall, with Incredible service and a price we couldn't beat made this a very enjoyable meal.
