Great tacos in Downey

Ernie | Sep 15, 2004 09:31 PM

Happened to be in Downey last night and stopped by Piñatas, a great little taco place recommended by a friend. Tried a carne asada taco and an al pastor mullita.

Was pleasantly suprised by the carne asada, flavorful and tender with a nice char taste. Good corn tortillas that tasted freshly made. The mullitas were excellent, just as good if not slightly better than the ones I have tried at La Taquiza near USC. The salsa bar only had 2 types, a red and green, but they were fresh and complimented the tacos nicely. A friend's order of nachos was immense and also tasty, with an interesting chile colorado type sauce on top in addition to the usual meat, beans, cheese, etc. base.
