"the great stripmall in the sky" - reincarnated restaurants and resurrected dishes

skimming the threads, i noticed a post by "condiment" in which he speaks of "the great stripmall in the sky." what a beautiful and poetic metaphor for all those restaurants that are no longer with us but we wish, still were (i'm thinking of YOU, Kenny's Cafe). i'm also thinking of warren schwartz's buffalo tartare, now gone from the menu at saddle peak lodge (ok, so SPL is still there, but the friggin' tartare is not listed on its website).

does anyone have any favorites socal resturants or dishes that are now gone, but have been reincarnated elsewhere in some form or other? is warren schwartz's beef tartare at whist on par with the buffalo tartare at SPL? let this be the list to end all lists on the subject, at least until it sinks beyond your sniffing...

by the way, if anyone knows where i can get a kenny's cafe-style chinese chicken salad or hawaiian royal now would be the time to tell me.
