Great Peruvian appetizer and caipirihnia at Sipan on UWS

Went to Sipan on the corner of Amsterdam and 94th on Saturday night and had this wonderful $12 appetizer of stuffed avocado w/shrimp that was out of this world.

A nice fat, ripe avocado, peeled and cut in half with the pit removed (of course). The two halves are then filled with outstanding chilled cooked shrimp, scallions, cilantro and other mixed greens and covered with a delicate yet spicy lemon/lime sauce. There are at least four good sized shrimp in each serving. And man was it good -- just the right blend of flavors with high quality ingredients.

Was accompanied by a very good $8 caipirihnia, complete with a stalk of sugar cane to chew on. I reserve judgement on the main course because I suspect I could have ordered something better, though the rice with seafood in a red sauce was still pretty good.

Either way, go for the stuffed avocado and let me know if you come across a good main course on the menu.
