Our semi-extended family has a tradition of meeting for lunch at the Peter Luger Steakhouse once a year at Christmas holiday time. (My mouth watered just typing that.) But, as truly other-worldly as their aged porterhouse steaks are, I'm feeling that the expense of dining there might be creating a bit of an imposition to our family members. It's also in Brooklyn, which can be a long drive.
So, I'm in the hunt for an alternative restaurant in the Northern NJ area for lunch or dinner for 10-15 people, ideally within a 40 minute drive from the Paramus area. NYC spots might be OK, but NJ would be even better (regarding traffic, parking, etc.). The type of cuisine is not nearly as important as it being really excellent quality food, without being a fussy or terribly expensive place (mostly $20-25 entrees is fine). That said, I would probably avoid anything *really* exotic.
Any thoughts are very much appreciated!
