Great German Food In Los Angeles

Hughlipton | Feb 10, 201107:43 PM

I was broken hearted when Black Forest closed down and then Hoppe's Heidelberg close after that. Now, hwoever The Swiss Chef has re-opened on Victory at Woodman in Van Nuys. My wife and I have just returned from our 16th anniversary having our celebration there.
The food was everything you could want from a German/Swiss style restaurant. My wife had the Wienerschnitzel which was large enough for several of your closer friends to eat off of and I had the venison medallions in a mushroom sauce which was incredible.
I must admit, being a wine aficionado I will go back and talk to them about their wine list but short of that nothing could have been bad. From the busboy to the waiter to the owner chef it could not have been finer. Go very hundgry or plan on taking home or leaving the leftovers.
This is a restaurant everyone should try and I'll bet you go back. Full bar.
I will admit that the ambience could be a bit warmer, but what the ambience misses the staff makes up for. Yes, I do believe this deserves the whole 5 stars.
