Great Beef Jerky - Thanks Melanie!

Ever since Hickory Farms of Ohio stopped making their natural beef jerky ('94) I've been on a mission to find jerky that isn't pressed and formed, or slathered with sauce or fake smoke, or too sweet or salty, etc. On the recommendations of Melanie Wong and others in the SF board I tried Angelo's Homemade Beef Jerky from Angelo's Wine Country Meat & Deli in Sonoma and Petaluma (CA). When I ordered it last week the lady said that it wouldn't ship for a few days as they were making a fresh batch. (!). It arrived today and is my jaw going to be sore tonight. My memory of Hickory Farms' has dimmed, but this is easily the best beef jerky I've ever tasted. They have a number of flavors but I got the Plain, and it's delicious. You can actually taste the beef, deep and flavorful. For me, the right amount of salt (which is very little). Some pieces are flat, others are gnarly for great chewing. I highly recommend this stuff. $25 a pound, packaged in 1/4 pound packages. (707) 763-9586 and (707) 938-3688. Shipping by UPS for 1-1/4 pounds was $6.95.
