Greetings all. This is my first post here, and it looks like a helluva fun place. :)
Park Place is my favorite new restaurant in the Hudson Valley (I'm in the mid-Hudson region). One of the aspects I love is that the owner, Joseph Cimino, has taken an ancient building, gutted it, and replaced its innards with a teak sushi bar and really soothing ambience. He is from the trenches of the Pino Luongo empire, so he really has an amazing understanding of vibe and service. The restaurant's back room overlooks the historic Goshen Race Track (I think it might have been one of the first horse racing tracks in America, but don't hold me to that.)
Best of all, Chef Cameron Gray has a rather irreverent approach to food -- and it works. Case in point: I was playing in his kitchen one day, and spotted some fava beans nearby. I said, "Hey, you should put something together with these, foie gras, and Chianti and call it the Hannibal." He said, "Don't throw things like that at me, because I'll use them."
The next time I went to the restaurant, there, on the menu, in all its glory, was "Liver with Fava Beans and a Nice Chianti." And it was goooooood. Ththththththth...
