Golf buddies took me to Blues City Deli, a tiny storefront with four or five tables inside and a couple outside in Benton Park, south of downtown off Gravois. My sandwich, a #3 Benton Park Po-Boy, was well-stuffed with thin-sliced cold roast beef, ham, turkey, and provel cheese, with fresh toppings of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pepperoncini and a discreet sauce. Good fresh chewy roll. Very tasty. The cold-cut sandwiches seemed more successful than the tuna. But the best thing about the place was the attentive and caring service from the proprietor and his help. They are near Hodak's, situated on the corner of McNair and Victor, and have a website: www.bluescitydeli.com.
