Good small, casual Mexican/Salvadorean in Tiburon

Mick Ruthven | Sep 10, 200508:26 PM

Poncho's Casa Manana on Ark Row in downtown Tiburon looks like an upscale taqueria, which it is but it's a lot more. It's a smallish airy place with a front deck that has a large variety of Mexican and Salvadorean items, including Pupusas, Berenjejna, Sopa 7 Mares, and many other more familiar things. Their paper menu lists other Casa Mananas in San Rafael. I've only been there twice, once several months ago (pre-Chowhound for me) and this afternoon when I wasn't very hungry and only had a chicken taco. It was a knife-and-fork type, really good wtih chicken cooked in some good sauce, some good spicy vegies, and white Mexican cheese on top. A taco-plus, I'd say, and very well done ($3.75). My hazy memory from my first visit only registers that I thought the food and place were "special", a cut above expectations, and I still think so. So I'm posting this without much of a specific food review to let others know I think it's very much worth trying yourself if you're in Tiburon (and please report back :-) Oh, forgot to say the people working there were very friendly and gracious, the kind that make me want to go back even more.
