the blighted restaurant scene in s.e. ct. has brightened considerably with the opening of little saigon 2 on rte. 32 in montvile, next to beit bros, at former site of a chinese buffet joint. the owners apparently run a successful restaurant in atlantic city and hoped to duplicate their success by locating the 2nd store near the mohegan sun casino. the restaurant was nearly empty at 6 pm last saturday; by the time we left another couple parties had come in. the service was great, the food came out fast and everything was beautifully prepared. for appetizers we had pho, wonton soup, spring rolls, summer rolls and grilled pork meatballs(with rice stick, rice paper, thai basil and cilantro to roll up ourselves). the grilled meats are really fabulous. every dish was a winner but the best were thinly sliced barbecued pork chops, and bun with barbecued beef, a steal at $5.95, with a delicious chili-based sauce which made the accompanying nuoc mom superfluous. i urge all of you chowhounds to do your duty and support this great new restaurant.
