Gave the Good Life on Kingston Street a shot, with its new look, owner, and menu. It's certainly a nice redo, much cleaner, lighter, and more modern-looking -- a big improvement from the rather dingy and rundown looking Good Life of the prior ownership. Respectable cocktails, very friendly service, a promising starter of a pizza with the currently voguish very thin crust (almost cracker-like) with some decent fancy toppings.
But the second course ruined the meal for me, a pasta "Bolognese", a duck, veal, and pork ragu. This was the most disgustingly oversauced pasta dish I've been served in memory. I poured off half the sauce from the bowl to my plate, and it was still completely drowning. Revolting, and reflective of a chef with utterly no feel for Italian food. That was enough sauce for three pounds of pasta. Yuck. We left in a hurry after that one.
