A friend and I are meeting in New York for a day and wanted to eat good, homey Italian food on Mulberry Street. I haven't been there in about 10 years and have heard that some of the restaurants have really gone downhill. Does anyone have a suggestion for good, homey, preferably Southern Italian on Mulberry? (Its a nostalgic thing for him to eat on Mulberry Street.) We'd be going for dinner and would want time to linger. Also any suggestions for a good place to get coffee/pastries in the evening in that area?
