Really good gyro 2 minutes from Taconic!

Finally, I have a place to recommend to all those posters looking for a lunch on the way up/down the Taconic State Pkwy.

Happy Days Cafe, in the strip mall less than a mile east of Taconic on Route 44, toward Millbrook. Basic diner. Get the gyro. I've eaten there before, the food was always hot and tasty, service really quick, comfortable booths, but I never had anything that made me sit up and beg.

The gyro: juicy, hot meat, freshly sliced; thick Greek pita, grilled and warm, folded and wrapped; lettuce, tomato, and -- this was different for me --really thick tzatziki on the side, virtually spreadable, so that the gyro doesn't get all wet and drippy. Side of good hot crispy fries included. $6.50, not that cheap, but definitely good.

If people in your party don't want gyro, the wraps, burgers, and breakfast stuff is all good and served hot (pet peeve warning).
