Good Eats near Marble Arch London?

Howard B | Feb 1, 2004 10:55 AM

Could anyone out there provide some recommendations of good food within reasonable walking distance of Marble Arch? I'm going to be here for nearly two weeks, so I'm looking for a pretty good sized list...

From reading other posts, I'm already planning on heading over to Queensway for Chinese -- Royal China and Mandarin Kitchen, and to Edgware Road for Lebanese, Burmese and Malaysian.

Any other recommendations? Cheap and expensive are all worthy of consideration.

On a side note, I stumbled across a Japanese restaurant on Brook Street called Ikeda, that's been there for about 25 years, and all of the staff are Japanese. Their standard meal fare is adequate (udon, yakitori, etc), but their sushi was very good. Aside from an excellent O-toro and Chuu-toro they had very tasty ika (which can be hard to find) and excellent ankimo - monk fish liver - which is very rare indeed.

It wasn't cheap, but it was very satisfying and a good find.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
