My wife and I celebrated a delicious dinner on Sunday (9/5/04) at Gilmore's of West Chester. This is a cozy, townhouse-style, special occasion restaurant with French influences on traditional American dishes. We loved the foie gras pizza appetizer, liked the wild mushroom ragout, and enjoyed the fresh Alaskan salmon with peach salsa and Jumbo Crabcake for our entrees. But dessert was the evening's highlight. Both the Althea May cake & chocolate souffle were outstanding! Appetizers range from $9-16, entrees are $25-29, and desserts are $8 each. Our total bill with tax, pre-tip came to $110, but was worth it given the superb level of service. The chef, Peter Gilmore, formerly of Le-Bec Fin, came out to greet all the guests in person. I'd strongly recommend this superb BYOB for a special dinner!
By the way, are there any mid-priced restaurants in the greater West Chester area that are worth exploring?
