Gelato at Trader Joe's

DavidT | May 12, 200211:42 PM

I recently purchased a pint of Dark Chocolate "Gelato Classico" Italian Ice Cream at Trader Joe's for $1.99. It is manufactured by Caffe Classico Foods of Concord, CA and it is VERY good. In taste and texture, it is probably the closest of any ice cream I have tasted in the U.S. that aspires to be an Italian-style gelato. I cannot recall if TJ's was carrying any other flavors. Be sure to let it sit outside the freezer for 5-10 minutes before serving. It softens up very nicely.
