Galatoire's alone on a Sunday evening?

Jan S. | Oct 15, 2003 01:04 PM

Based on the number of posts regarding the decline of Commander's Palace, I'm rethinking my plans to have Sunday brunch there again (I've been twice before). Now I'm considering going to dinner instead, but there are limited restaurants open on Sunday. Galatoire's is a possibility, and I have a question.

I will be dining alone, probably on the early side (between 6 - 7), and wonder how much difference (atmosphere, etc.) it would be to sit upstairs at with a reservation around that time instead of downstairs? Or if I eat early, would there not be much of a wait downstairs? Is it still better to sit downstairs regardless, or does that only matter on Friday or Saturday nights? I've never eaten there because I don't usually go to places that don't take reservations, but people keep recommending it and they are open Sundays.

P.S. This board is great! I don't know anyone in New Orleans and I like being able to get other people's perspectives.
