How do I tell my friends I'm bored with brunch in Manhattan?

Flynn | May 20, 2005 02:49 PM

The weather is nice out and I want to do things besides eat eggs, pancakes, drink a bloody mary, or trek to Chinatown for dim sum. I don't want to have brunch in a patio or garden either with tons of strangers who have the same idea and wait for a table for God knows how long.

Every weekend it's the same thing - my friends sleep late and want to 'do brunch.' There's nothing wrong with that but it gets boring especially cause I'm an early riser and have already had my eggs, oatmeal, whatever. For me, sitting having brunch on a nice day takes up the better part of the afternoon yet I still want to catch up with my friends; especially if I haven't seen them for awhile. And brunch is boring.

Any suggestions from hounds on how to get my friends to come up with something else besides getting new friends. And no - they won't trek out to Queens or Staten Island for something more exotic. They'd rather hop a plane first and then have - you guessed it - brunch!
