Hi all -- in follow up to my pimientos de padron question below, I was planning to make a fresh sardine tapas this Sunday for a dinner party (lightly fried and salted). Anyhow, I was hoping to get my sardines from Fish King in Glendale, as a special order (it's not a regular item stocked at any of the fish markets I know of), but they said there weren't any available at their supplier for over the weekend (apparantly they can do it if you order Monday for a week day).
Anyhow, one of the guys there told me I could go down to the Marina and buy fresh (live!) sardines from the bait sellers on the weekend excursion fishing boats on Saturday or Sunday. I may try that, although I'm put off a bit by the notion of having to kill and clean my own fish (yes, call me wimpy). Anyone else know of a source of fresh (yet dead, and most preferably cleaned) sardines on a Saturday or Sunday? TIA for any assistance you can give!
